This project feels deeply personal. It reflects a vision shaped over years of exploration — because a home, in its essence, is exactly that: an exploration of how we want to live.

At 14 C Hillside, luxury is not defined by perfection, but by how beautifully life unfolds within it. It was conceived as an ultra-luxury property in Los Cabos — a home designed for a large family who may visit only a few months a year, yet need every moment to feel intentional, intimate, and unforgettable.

True luxury here lies in livability.

TEXTURE, SCALE & SENSATION

The interiors embrace contrast with confidence. Natural textures meet dark and light woods — an uncommon combination in many of Ruiz’s projects — yet here they transition seamlessly. The bedroom layers ochre tones, sculptural forms, and tactile finishes to create balance between warmth and refinement.

Scale becomes a powerful design tool.

In the dining area, oversized chandeliers cascade like a constellation above the table — designed to evoke the sensation of dining beneath a rain of stars. The kitchen responds with lighting in similar tones but in a different scale, creating dialogue rather than repetition.

Nothing screams. Everything resonates.

ECLECTIC, YET INTENTIONAL

If one word defines the aesthetic, it is eclectic — but not in the conventional sense. It is eclectic as freedom. A freedom to reinterpret the past, to reference the seventies if necessary, yet always within a contemporary framework.

Clean architectural bones allow the interiors to breathe. When architecture is strong, interior design does not need to overpower — it refines, softens, and calibrates private spaces for rhythm and mood.

Bedrooms transition into deeper hues at sunset.

Located within one of Mexico’s most celebrated oceanfront resorts, this residence was envisioned as a refined extension of its hospitality legacy — intimate, immersive, and deeply connected to the sea.

Expansive openings, layered terraces, and fluid transitions blur the line between interior and exterior. Natural light and ocean views become central design elements, shaping rhythm, proportion, and atmosphere.

CONTEMPORARY MEXICAN ELEGANCE

Artisanal detailing, custom woodwork, and patterned stone floors pay homage to regional craftsmanship. A palette of soft neutrals, deep blues, and organic textures reflects both the desert landscape and the surrounding coastline.

ELEVATED SERENITY

The design balances functionality and refinement — generous living areas, curated finishes, and subtle decorative gestures create a space that feels composed yet effortless. A private retreat rooted in sophistication and calm.

From the first step inside, the transition between interior and exterior feels effortless. Expansive openings dissolve boundaries, allowing ocean views, mountain silhouettes, and golden sunsets to become part of the everyday atmosphere.

FIRE, SUNSET & SOCIAL MOMENTS

The terraces are more than extensions of the living room — they are destinations. Fire-warmed lounges create intimate gathering points at dusk, while generous seating arrangements encourage long conversations under open skies.

Outdoor dining and gourmet grilling areas were designed with the same level of refinement as the interior kitchen, ensuring that functionality never compromises aesthetic coherence.

Here, sunset is not just a backdrop — it is an event. Here, the coast is not jut a view—it is part of everyday living.

CURATED COMFORT

Inside, plush sectionals, layered neutrals, and tactile finishes define the living spaces. Soft upholstery contrasts with structured millwork. Natural woods balance stone surfaces. Every piece is selected not to dominate, but to belong.

The dining area becomes a sculptural focal point, framed by suspended lighting that introduces rhythm and scale without overwhelming the space. The kitchen, with its clean lines and grounded palette, merges performance with understated elegance.

The concept was developed as a refined interpretation of contemporary Mexican living within a luxury hospitality setting. Rather than imposing style, the design translates regional identity into a sophisticated, livable atmosphere.

MATERIAL WARMTH & CULTURAL CONTINUITY

Natural woods, tactile textiles, and curated patterns reference Mexican craftsmanship through a contemporary lens. Earthy neutrals are punctuated with warm accents, creating a layered palette that echoes desert tones against the sea.

ARCHITECTURAL FRAMING & SPATIAL BALANCE

At Residences at Solaz, interiors were reimagined to embody understated luxury — spaces that feel effortless, yet deeply intentional. This renovation focused on elevating the interior experience, allowing materials, light, and proportion to define a refined coastal atmosphere.

COASTAL CLARITY

Ocean views are not simply framed — they are integrated.
Expansive openings dissolve boundaries between interior and terrace, allowing the horizon to become part of daily life. Soft textiles, neutral palettes, and carefully selected furnishings create an environment that feels calm, grounded, and naturally luminous.

Here, serenity is not decorative — it is structural.

MATERIAL WARMTH

Natural wood introduces depth and rhythm across bedrooms and living areas. Vertical paneling, custom millwork, and subtle grain patterns add warmth without visual weight.

Stone surfaces in bathrooms and kitchens provide balance — cool, tactile, and refined. The contrast between organic textures and clean architectural lines defines the spatial identity of the project.

When starting this project, I aimed to design a bathroom that radiates warmth and serenity 🌿. Natural wood adds a cozy touch, while the stone on the sink brings sophistication and texture. The soft lighting behind the mirror highlights every detail, wrapping the space in a relaxing ambiance. Every element was chosen to make this bathroom a true retreat of peace and style 🛁✨
